Two days ago, we had our first hard freeze of the season, reaching a nippy 24 degrees overnight. Brrrr!! Needless to say the birdbath, with what little water was left in it, was frozen.
I knew the freeze was coming, but failed to set out my Wild Birds Unlimited heated birdbath in advance of the cold autumn night. So I pulled it from the basement, along with my Lock-n-Dry cordset (which eliminates any moisture getting to the cord connection - the most common heated birdbath problem). Four minutes later, it was all set up.
I headed back inside and not more than 2 MINUTES after I went inside, the chickadees started visiting the birdbath. There were 2 of them that took turns visiting the newly opened water source. It's been dry lately, so I'm sure they were showing their appreciation for providing an open drinking water source.
Get your heated birdbath out today!!
