ATTENTION

  • Our eyes and ears should be open and alert to the natural wonders that surround us every day. Take time to look out our windows to see the birds that visit us and open our windows to hear them. Walk around whatever space we have to enjoy the birds in nature. Every day, work on improving our powers of observation.

ACCEPTANCE

  • Nature happens. We cannot MAKE natural things happen (or NOT happen). We can create habitats to encourage natural things to happen around us, but there are no guarantees.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Birdfeeding comes with responsibilities to the birds and the environment we share with them. If you are unwilling to accept these responsibilities, you shouldn’t feed the birds. We also have a responsibility to share these natural wonders with the next generation.

Eileen, they are somewhat irruptive so you may very well have them only during the winter. We were lucky enough to have them year-round, so their absence was notable.
Dawn, I'm glad too!
Ellen, sorry until I'm sure they're back for good, I'm not letting any go!
Kathiesbirds, oh no! I'm losing a FB friend from the northeast!
Dan, they're a great member of the mixed flock!

Glad you have them back. I have them in my new yard, which is exciting.

Eileen Cooper

I used to have them then they disappeared, can't tell you the last time I had them, maybe they will be back this winter. Enjoy them!

Kathiesbirds

I am so glad that they are back for you. I have only seen one once in the 2 years that I have lived here in Andover, MA and I think it was around the same time that you saw yours! I have been worried about this species because others have posted about not seing them either. I won't be seeing them anytime soon since Gus and I are moving back to Tucson!

Ellen

I love these little birds and their calls! I haven't had one at the new house yet... maybe yours can send someone over for me. :)

Dawn Simmons Fine

Glad they are back
