WBU Birdfeeders Evolve from Good to Better to Best

You remember the rhyme.  The nuns at good old Our Lady of Loretto Grade School in Hometown IL used to pull it out on us all the time:

Good, better, best
Never let it rest
'til good is better
and better is best

The evolution of our Wild Birds Unlimited seed and finch feeders have been following this path over the years.  It started with the Lifetime Guarantee Seed Tube and Finch Feeders, featuring smart design decisions such as metal ports or port armor, metal cover and base, seed diverters, and an easy to fill design.  They kept seed flowing towards the ports but not flowing out.  They minimized squirrels' ability to chew open the feeding ports.  And they came with a WBU Lifetime Guarantee - if it broke or became unable to function, WBU would repair or replace it.  One drawback: to clean the feeder, you had to use a screwdriver to remove the base to thoroughly clean the feeder.


In 2004, Wild Birds Unlimited introduced the Quick Clean® Seed and Finch Feeders.  To help ensure healthy birdfeeding, we try to clean our feeders regularly, but sometimes we let it slip. Before we know it, it's been months since the feeder was last cleaned.  And we all know human nature: when a feeder is easy to clean, it gets cleaned more often! 

Quick Clean feeders have an easy to remove base that makes getting to the bottom of things (literally) a snap!  And everytime you fill the feeder, you can invert it and do at least a quick cleaning of the inside of the bottom of the feeder before you refill it.

Now Wild Birds Unlimited has introduced revolutionary new birdfeeders:  EcoClean™ Antimicrobial feeders.  Using naturally occurring silver, EcoClean products incorporate Agion®, a patented antimicrobial agent that inhibits the surface growth of damaging bacteria, mold, mildew, yeast and fungi.  Agion is extensively used for applications in consumer products including electronics like cell phones and keyboards, shoes, medical catheters and more.



EcoClean seed and finch feeders still have all the smart design features of our original feeders, the Quick Clean removable base and the WBU Lifetime Guarantee, but with the added antimicrobial product protection as well.  It's a great looking feeder too, with black metal parts that accent the frosted feeder tube. 



On the EcoClean Seed Tube, treated surfaces include the metal top and base, the polycarbonate tube, the metal seed ports, the seed diverter, and the perch covers.  EcoClean finch feeders have protection embedded into the metal top, base, and port armor, the seed diverter, the polycarbonate tube, and the perch covers.  The Dinner Bell feeder's tray has antimicrobial protection.  This antimicrobial product protection is embedded into these parts and will not wash or wear away.



EcoClean feeders still need to be cleaned regularly to remove normal grime and droppings, but it is not necessary to use a bleach solution to clean them.  And of course, it is still important to keep your birdfood fresh and dry.
