The 13th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count is over and a record setting 96,842 checklists were submitted from across the US and Canada. What a fantastic response, all which provides scientists with enormous amounts of data to help understand our birds and bird populations.
Here at Wild Birds Unlimited - Saratoga Springs NY, we all participate in the count and we talk up the Great Backyard Bird Count with our customers for weeks before the event. And as a reward, any customer that came in with a completed checklist got a free 2 pound bag of our WBU Choice Blend and a Checklist of Birds of New York State.
Though we don't know for sure just how many of our WBU customers counted that weekend, we did get 46 checklists from 25 different customers. We're so proud of our citizen-scientist customers that we want to share what they saw during this year's Great Backyard Bird Count.
