ATTENTION

  • Our eyes and ears should be open and alert to the natural wonders that surround us every day. Take time to look out our windows to see the birds that visit us and open our windows to hear them. Walk around whatever space we have to enjoy the birds in nature. Every day, work on improving our powers of observation.

ACCEPTANCE

  • Nature happens. We cannot MAKE natural things happen (or NOT happen). We can create habitats to encourage natural things to happen around us, but there are no guarantees.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Birdfeeding comes with responsibilities to the birds and the environment we share with them. If you are unwilling to accept these responsibilities, you shouldn’t feed the birds. We also have a responsibility to share these natural wonders with the next generation.

Wonderful post!

The Zen Birdfeeder

Dawn - have fun cooking up treats for the birds.
Vickie - maybe try a hot-pepper version of suet. Just be careful as you handle that you don't rub your eyes (just like handling any hot peppers). LMK if you do it and how it works for you. I use hot pepper suet in the suet log that you see in many of my pictures.
Con - you're welcome and thanks for spreading the word! I hope they enjoy their project.

Nice post on making treats for our friends. I'm recommending it to a friend who works with young 4H kids. She'll be so happy to have your detailed instructions and photos to show the kids as they work. Thanks.

Vickie

Inspiring post, Nancy. Any inexpensive and easy ideas for outwitting squirrels and racoons when you hang suet?
