ATTENTION

  • Our eyes and ears should be open and alert to the natural wonders that surround us every day. Take time to look out our windows to see the birds that visit us and open our windows to hear them. Walk around whatever space we have to enjoy the birds in nature. Every day, work on improving our powers of observation.

ACCEPTANCE

  • Nature happens. We cannot MAKE natural things happen (or NOT happen). We can create habitats to encourage natural things to happen around us, but there are no guarantees.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Birdfeeding comes with responsibilities to the birds and the environment we share with them. If you are unwilling to accept these responsibilities, you shouldn’t feed the birds. We also have a responsibility to share these natural wonders with the next generation.

Larry - thanks, I've enjoyed their regular presence. Hope they arrive in CT soon!
Mon@rch - stay tuned, I have a feeling I'll be posting lots of grosbeak pix this winter!
Mike - funny you mention a "Blue Jay irruption" - I had been thinking the same thing! Jays are really thick this winter and I'm glad they aren't keeping the grosbeaks away. Happy Holidays to you as well.

Wow! I am happy with the number of "typical" birds that come to our feeders, but I am coveting your Evening Grosbeaks! I need a species that can stand up to the 20-or-so Blue Jays that have become our frequent guests (those numbers are up from other years, but no one is talking about a "Blue Jay irruption" or anything).

Great pictures, thanks for sharing!

Happy Holidays,
Mike

mon@rch

thanks for sharing these are such wonderful birds!

Larry

Show-off! I hope that there's enough left for us to see in CT!
Nice photos though.-I've heard they have quite the appetite.

Vern & Lana - thanks!

Lana

Wow! So much color over there at the Int'l House of Grosbeaks (& blue jays!)

Vern

Nice birds to have as regulars. I can't say I've had them as regulars since I was a kid in the 70's back in Massachusetts. Great birds and pics.
Thanks
